Meet An “Amazing” Who Shines By His Ever-Positive Example

Bernie Berman, at 101, would seem a more likely recipient of Meals on Wheels than a volunteer. And yet, Bernie works in the Meals on Wheels kitchen once a week and delivers meals another day of the week. Alongside his passion for serving others, is his passion for horticulture. Bernie loves to landscape. He cares meticulously for the 85 plants in his luxuriant garden including maintaining an elaborate irrigation system.

A WWII vet, Bernie worked in Navy communications printing military codes as well as training personnel. A true family man, Bernie has 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Now that’s a lot of birthdays to celebrate.
