Resurgent Chargers On A Roll In The VIBL
Agoura High rips Westlake 9-2, winning for the foruth time in its past five games. That seven-game losing streak at the start of the summer? It's a thing of the past.

It appears as if the Agoura High baseball team has finally turned things around and in the process, the Chargers have emerged as one of the hottest teams in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.
Westlake didn't stand much of a chance against a suddenly resurgent Agoura squad on Wednesday, the Chargers taking apart the visiting Warriors 9-2 for their fourth win in the last five games.
The victory was important when considering Agoura (4-8) lost its first seven games of the summer. That losing streak, however, is thing of the past.

"We're getting there, we're close to being where we want to be,'' Chargers coach Dennis Reitz said. "It's all about confidence. The kids have it now."
Agoura used three pitchers against Westlake (3-9), which struggled from start to finish and ended up with just six hits.

Daniel Kolodin got the start for Agoura and the senior gave up one run on three hits with four strikeouts in three innings of work. Blake Sack entered in the top of the fourth inning and ended up tossing three innings of hitless and scoreless ball to pick up the win. With the game's outcome no longer in doubt, Corey Rohm made an appearance in the seventh and gave up a run on two hits.
The pitching staff was aided by plenty of run support.
Trailing by a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Chargers rallied to tie the score at 1. They then blew open what had been a close game by scoring three runs in the fifth inning and then five more in the sixth to spoil any plans the Warriors might have had at making a comeback.
Preston Rosemont had a pair of hits for the Chargers. So did Joe Bealer, whose productive day also included three RBI. Brody Fehmel was disruptive on the base paths, scoring two runs while adding two RBI and two stolen bases.
"It's nice getting contributions from everyone,'' Reitz said. "Baseball is a funny game sometimes and hitting can be contagious once in a while. The boys were really swinging it today. They did a great job at the plate.''
Interestingly enough, Agoura could have been winners of five consecutive games had it not narrowly lost to Sylmar, 4-3, a week ago.
Nevertheless, the Chargers are on a roll, riding one of the hottest streaks that the VIBL has seen this summer and poised to finish the season on a high note.
