Forum to include info on closure of campuses in county

Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Stan Mantooth will address everything you want to know about local schools, including the impact of closing campuses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, during an online Community Forum via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17.
The closure of public school campuses for the remainder of the academic year will be part of a wide-ranging discussion that will include how schools get their funding, how education has changed in the 21st century and how quality education affects the entire community. The discussion will be moderated by Mike Teasdale, a trustee on the Ventura County Board of Education.
Mantooth will address the many questions parents have about carrying on the school year at home since the decision was made April 1 to close campuses countywide. His overall message will encompass what teachers are doing in the classroom, what are 21st Century skills and how are public schools preparing children for the future.

Teasdale said that if citizens understand what educators are trying to achieve and how schools are funded, they will better understand how the virus is affecting us now and how school districts can adapt in the future.
