Volunteers Needed for Conejo Valley Days' Special Kids Day

Volunteers are needed for Conejo Valley Days' Special Kids Day, Friday, May 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for Conejo Valley Days’ Special Kids Day, Friday, May 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Kids with special needs will be able to enjoy the fun and excitement of the 59th annual Conejo Valley Days (CVD) before the festival opens later that day to the public. Volunteers are needed to give one-on-one attention to each child as well greet kids as they enter CVD and to serve food.

Sponsored by Zonta Club of the Conejo Valley for over 35 years, Special Kids Day brings more than 200 kids to the CVD site (23 Freeway at Janss Rd. exit). Kids go on rides, play games and enjoy a hamburger lunch provided by the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge. Students are preapproved to attend by the Conejo Valley Unified School District. The event is not open to the public.

Kids range in age from preschool through fifth grade. Zonta Club arranges for buses to transport the children to and from schools to CVD.

“Our volunteers are what make Special Kids Day happen,” says Mary Lou Miller, Zonta’s Special Kids Day coordinator. “Volunteers take time off of work and school and are always eager to ensure that the kids have a wonderful time.”

Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Individuals, groups and businesses can also help by making a donation to help offset costs.
