1 Dead In Alameda Crash

The crash happened on Webster Street just outside the tube.

ALAMEDA, CA — At 10:45pm Thursday evening, December 1, an adult male was driving their vehicle through the Webster Tube into Alameda when they collided with a light pole on Webster Street, just outside the tube.

The driver does not appear to be a resident of the Bay Area, was alone in the car, and sustained major injuries from the crash.

The Alameda Fire Department responded to the scene, extracted the driver, and transported him to a local hospital. Sadly, medical staff was unable to save his life, and he was pronounced deceased.

The Alameda Police Department closed the Webster Tube following the crash and again Friday morning to collect evidence. The Tube is now open and the roadway is clear.

At this time, the details of the crash are unknown, an investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is being released.
