Elderly Alameda Man Takes To GoFundMe After Losing Job

"If I cannot find employment, I cannot pay my bills, and I am in jeopardy of becoming homeless."

ALAMEDA, CA — A longtime resident of Alameda is reaching out for help after losing his job. Albert Stefani started the appeal Saturday on GoFundMe writing, "I have been a resident of Alameda for 29 years. I am 83 years old. After 22 years of employment at a well-known Alameda business, I was permanently laid off! I am very financially burdened. If I cannot find employment, I cannot pay my bills, and I am in jeopardy of becoming homeless.

"I will deeply and sincerely appreciate any help you can provide. No amount is too small. Thank you for your support."

Stefani only asked for $2,000, but that doesn't go far in today's economy. The fund is slightly over the goal, $2,027 on Monday morning, but the fundraiser is still open so people can donate in excess of the goal.
