Alameda Business Spotlight: Island Taqueria
The new incarnation of Alameda Taqueria: new name, new owners, same cooks

Owners: Luis Gomez and his brothers-in-law, Temo and Alejandro Martinez
When did you open? We just recently opened May 17.
What do you serve? We have a little bit of everything. The more popular choices are burritos, like the burrito mojado, and quesadillas. A lot of people ask for chile rellenos. Myself, I like everything — enchiladas, quesadillas, the chile verde. We have two kinds of salsa. The green is made with tomatillos, the red with tomatoes and chili arbol. Drinks include horchata, watermelon juice and Mexican Coke.

How is the menu different from Alameda Taqueria? Quite a few things are the same but we’ve got new plates such as the taco salad and fajitas. We’ve added a lot of stuff. Our cooks are the same, though.
How’s business been? It’s been up and down. With this economy, it’s been kind of hard.
