Alameda County Sheriff's Office Releases Updated Coronavirus Info

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has released updated coronavirus numbers regarding inmates and staff within the Santa Rita Jail.

ALAMEDA, CA – The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has released updated coronavirus numbers regarding inmates and staff within the Santa Rita Jail.

As of Sunday, the Santa Rita Jail has 42 positive inmate cases. Of those, 30 cases are asymptomatic and 12 are symptomatic.

To date, there have been 2,244 tests completed, with 2,027 negative results, 195 positive results, and 22 results pending.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 122 formerly positive inmates have completely recovered and are still in custody, 11 formerly positive inmates have recovered and are no longer in custody, and 20 inmates who tested positive for COVID-19 were released from custody.

One inmate has been admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19 complications.

There have been no inmate deaths from COVID-19 complications.

There are currently 12 positive staff/contractor cases at the Santa Rita Jail. There have been a total of 48 staff/contractor cases to date, and 36 have recovered.

As of March 1, there were 2,597 inmates in Santa Rita Jail. As of Sunday, there were 1,879 inmates.
