Alameda Library Joins Museum Pass Network

The Discover & Go program lets library cardholders make reservations online and print out free passes to Bay Area museums.

From an Alameda Free Library press release:

How is your weekend? Are you looking for something to do but are plumb out of ideas, leaving you sitting in front of the television or your computer? Do you have friends and relatives coming for visit? Would a weekend trip to the Exploratorium be nice? How about a trip to the Tech Museum?

Well, the Alameda Free Library just launched a great new program that could help you. The Library is joining the Discover & Go network.

A first of its kind, Discover & Go provides access to free passes to local museums and cultural institutions that can be printed online rather than traditional physical passes that must be picked up and returned to the Library. Each Discover & Go pass expires immediately after the reservation date – no returns required and no possibility for overdue fines!

This unique program allows Alameda Free Library cardholders to make reservations online by date or by venue and immediately print out a pass or print later. Customers can make reservations online at http://discover.alamedafree.org.

If you don't have Internet access, you can reserve a pass by telephone or in person.

Things to remember: Passes are valid only for a specific date. Passes can be identified by venue or by date. Only two passes can be reserved/checked out at a time. There is no limit to total passes checked out. Some venues allow only one pass per cardholder per year. Most passes provide admission for two, many provide a family pass, but a few have more restricted offerings, so it's important to read the full offer.

Shown here are just a few of the venues (more offerings will be added in the future): Aquarium of the Bay, San Francisco; Bay Area Discovery Museum, Sausalito; Charles M. Schulz Museum, Santa Rosa; Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco; Exploratorium, San Francisco; Lawrence Hall of Science, Berkeley; Marine Mammal Center, Sausalito; Museum of Craft and Folk Art, San Francisco; Napa Valley Museum, Yountville; Oakland Museum of California, Oakland; Pacific Pinball Museum, Alameda; The Tech Museum, San Jose; USS Hornet Museum, Alameda; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.
