Alameda Named One Of The Safest Cities In CA
SafeWise compiled the list by analyzing the most recent 2017 FBI crime statistics and census population data.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda has been named one of the safest cities in the state of California finishing just out of the Top 100 at 117, according to SafeWise, an online safety resource, which analyzed data from California. For perspective, the Golden State has a total of 482 municipalities.
To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2017 FBI crime statistics and census population data. The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city per 1,000 people. If there was a tie, they also factored in the number of property crimes including burglary, and car theft. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system.
According to the SafeWise analysis, there are 79,761 residents living in Alameda, but only 3.17 violent crimes per 1,000 people, and 29.43 property crimes per 1,000 people.
