Alameda’s USS Hornet Museum Holds Virtual Memorial Day Tribute
The commemoration includes videos of past Memorial Day ceremonies aboard the ship.
ALAMEDA, CA — The USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum will hold an online Memorial Day commemoration event Monday due to the museum's closure during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The museum has been open every Memorial Day since it opened to the public in 1998 — until this year, due to local and state COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders that have temporarily closed indoor museums.
USS Hornet volunteers Sue Renner and retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Lewis Ross helped the museum's employees curate the commemoration, which includes videos of past Memorial Day ceremonies aboard the ship.
