OAKLAND, CA — Four suspects were taken into custody in connection with a recent carjacking and robbery spree in East Oakland, police said.
Police say the suspects committed several armed robberies, at least one carjacking and pistol-whipped someone between 9:45 p.m. on Sunday and 12:15 a.m. Monday.
Officers responded to the carjacking just after midnight on Monday and tried pulling the suspects over, police said.
But they refused to stop and kept driving until police located them again in the area of Kingsland Place and Morcom Avenue, police said.
That's when the suspects bailed from the car and tried running away, but officers quickly caught up to them, police said.
During the arrest, officers found the minors had two loaded, unregistered firearms. that had been converted into fully automatic weapons, police said.
The suspects were arrested, although police did not say what they were booked on suspicion of.
They were also not publicly identified because of their age. Police say two hail from Oakland, one from Hayward and one from Richmond.
