3 Arrested In East Bay Sting Targeting Online Child Exploitation

The operation targeted people seeking to exploit minors online, police said.

NEWARK, CA — Three people were arrested Tuesday after traveling to Newark to meet a person they believed to be a minor for sex, following a multi-agency sting operation, police said.

The operation was conducted by the Newark Police Department and partner agencies, targeting individuals seeking to exploit minors online, police said.

Authorities said the suspects communicated with an undercover officer posing as a minor before arranging to meet in person.

Police identified those arrested as Jin Wang, 63, of Fremont; Anish Nishchal Dutt, 48, of San Leandro; and Martin Benjamin Capati, 31, of Mountain View.

All three were taken into custody upon arrival in Newark, authorities said.
