ALAMEDA, CA — Two women were arrested last after being linked to a series of property and drug crimes in Alameda, police said.
Police say they first started investigating the women after they burglarized a storage unit in the 2300 block of Mariner Square Avenue in early March.
Detectives with the Alameda Police Department secured a warrant to search a home in San Pablo possibly tied to the crimes, authorities said.
When they searched the home last week, they found several guns, dozens of suspected stolen items, including jewelry and memorabilia and drugs, the Alameda Police Department said.
On Thursday, they served a warrant at another location and found more stolen property and illegal narcotics, police said.
Two women, who police did not identify publicly, were taken into custody during the operations, authorities said, adding that they've been linked to at least six cases in Alameda.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to get the stolen items to their rightful owners, police said.
"This case highlights the importance of documenting valuable belongings," police said. "We encourage community members to record serial numbers, maintain purchase records, and photograph valuable items."
