'Operation Chill' Nets Free Slurpees For Alameda Kids This Summer

ALAMEDA, CA — This summer, getting caught doing good deeds by the police in Alameda could mean (positive) consequences.

Alameda police say "Operation Chill" is back this summer to recognize everyday acts of kindness by kids around the community that may often go unnoticed.

Operation Chill is about encouraging good decision-making and fostering positive interactions between community members and officers, according to the Alameda Police Department.

"Whether it is helping someone cross the street, wearing a helmet while riding a bike, showing kindness and compassion to others, or making safe and responsible choices, we want to celebrate the positive actions that make our community stronger," the Alameda Police Department said. "You never know when one of our officers might spot your good deed and reward you with a cool treat."

Coupons will be redeemable at local 7-Eleven stores, police said.
