OAKLAND, CA — A woman accused of intentionally setting a fire in Oakland and then attacking responding emergency personnel at the scene has been charged with assault, prosecutors said.
In addition to assault, Krystal M. Love was charged Thursday with battery on a peace officer, causing injury and use of a deadly weapon, according to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors say love set fire to a car and a tree in the 7400 block of International Boulevard on Monday.
When first responders arrived at the scene, Love began attacking them, prosecutors said. Further details about the assault were not available.
Police did not provide a motive behind the fire or the attack. Love is due back in court on Friday.
"I am grateful to the first responders who quickly suppressed the fire and prevented any further injury to life or property," Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson said in a statement Thursday morning.
