OAKLAND, CA — One driver's Independence Day was cut short after being pulled over in Oakland and caught with multiple guns, authorities said.
Police say a California Highway Patrol officer in Oakland pulled over a driver on Saturday after noticing his car registration had expired.
The driver said his license was suspended, and officers learned he had an active warrant for his arrest, according to the California Highway Patrol, Oakland.
The officers ordered the driver out of the car and noticed a Glock handgun in the door frame, authorities said.
After searching the vehicle, officers found an AR-15 rifle in the back seat, along with several high-capacity magazines, authorities said.
The driver, whose identity was not released, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. It's unclear exactly what the warrant was for or what he was booked on suspicion of.
