Oakland Mother Faces Child Abuse Charges After 5-Year-Old Overdoses On Fentanyl: Report

The mother's boyfriend has also been charged in connection with the incident, according to an East Bay Times report.

OAKLAND, CA — An Oakland woman and her boyfriend are facing child abuse charges after her five-year-old son was left in critical condition due to a fentanyl overdose, according to an East Bay Times report.

Court records show the boy passed out during a dinner at a home in Oakland on June 21 and was taken to a hospital, according to the report.

There, he was found to have cocaine and fentanyl in his system and was given Narcan to reverse the opioid effects, according to the report.

It's not clear how the boy got the drugs into his system.

Police said in court records that they found what they believe was cocaine and fentanyl inside the home where the boy was having dinner, according to the report.
