2 Shot During Roommate Dispute In Oakland; Suspect Arrested: Report

The suspect had only been the victims' roommate for about a week, according to an East Bay Times report.

OAKLAND, CA — A man accused of shooting his two roommates during an argument in Oakland was arrested following a police standoff Monday morning, according to an East Bay Times report.

It's unclear what led up to the dispute and shooting in the 3200 block of Lynde Street. Authorities say the suspect, a 56-year-old man, moved in about a week ago, according to the report.

Officers responded just after 2 a.m. to the home, where the suspect refused to come out, prompting SWAT to be activated, according to the report.

It took more than three hours after the shooting for the man to surrender, according to the report, which said he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm.

The victims, meanwhile, are expected to survive, according to the report.
