Oakland Police Renew Push To Find King Estate Campus Mass Shooting Suspect

The shooting at King Estate Campus in 2022 left one person dead and several injured, police said.

OAKLAND, CA — Police are once again asking for the public's help finding the people responsible for a mass shooting at a school in Oakland in 2022 that left one person dead and several others injured.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting at King Estates school campus on September 28, 2022. Six people were shot, including Kazuhiro David Sakurai, who died on Nov. 17 from "complications of a gunshot wound," according to the Oakland Police Department.

Four years later, details about the shooting remain limited, but police released surveillance footage on Friday in hopes of renewing public interest in the case.

The video shows at least two people running onto the screen holding what appear to be guns. As they run out of the frame, other people begin running, the video shows.

Moments later, the same suspects that appear to be holding guns run back on screen and run away, the video shows.

"The Homicide Section is again releasing a brief video showing the suspected shooters prior to the incident," the Oakland Police Department said in a statement. "OPD is sharing this video to help identify and locate those responsible for Sakurai's death."

The Oakland Police Department asks that anyone with more information on the suspects contact the homicide section at 510-238-3821 or the tip line, 510-238-7950.
