OAKLAND, CA — Community complaints led officers to the seizure of multiple guns, drugs and cash from a home in Oakland, police said.
Officers were conducting a security check in the 500 block of 105th Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, when something caught their attention: Four people leaving a nearby home through windows, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The officers detained the four people and found a backpack containing what they believed were drugs and materials to package them, police said.
Officers went to the home, where the person inside agreed to let them search it, police said.
Inside, officers found two loaded firearms, including one with a 40-round magazine, and more than a dozen boxes of ammunition, police said.
Cash and suspected drugs "consistent with drug sales" were also found during the seizure, police said.
"OPD thanks the community for their continued support and for reporting concerns," police said. "We encourage residents to keep reporting criminal activity so we can address neighborhood issues. We rely on the community to help keep Oakland safe. Your willingness to speak up makes a difference and helps protect our neighborhoods."
