Joray Washington admitted to robbing seven gas stations and a Taco Bell restaurant in Alameda County, prosecutors said.

OAKLAND, CA — The armed robberies of eight East Bay businesses earned an Oakland man 10 years in federal prison, prosecutors said.

Jaray Washington, 44, pleaded guilty to the holdups, which violated federal commerce protections, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Northern California said Friday.

Washington admitted to robbing eight businesses in Alameda County including seven gas stations and a Taco Bell restaurant, prosecutors said. Two were committed with an accomplice, Deante Hunt, who received a 36-month sentence.

Washington led police on multiple high-speed chases to evade capture, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

When he was arrested on Feb. 13, 2024, officers recovered a distinctive purple pistol he had brandished during each of the stick-ups, prosecutors said.

At the time he committed the eight robberies, Washington was probation following a 2022 conviction for felon in possession of a firearm, prosecutors said.
