AUSD Board to Consider Sean McPhetridge as Superintendent

Board members to discuss and vote on appointment at February 10 public meeting

The Board of Education for the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) will consider appointing Sean McPhetridge, Ed.D. as permanent superintendent at its February 10, 2015 meeting.

Dr. McPhetridge was appointed as Interim Superintendent in August, 2014. Prior to stepping into that role, he served as AUSD’s assistant superintendent (2010 to 2013); principal of the Alameda Science and Technology Institute (2005-2008); director of secondary and career technical education (also 2005-2008); and instructional vice principal at Alameda High School (2000-2003). He also worked as interim director of student programs and services at the Alameda County Office of Education.

“We are delighted to announce that we’re considering appointment of Dr. Sean McPhetridge as permanent superintendent of our school district,” said Barbara Kahn, president of the Board of Education. “We are a new board, and we would like to embark on an era of comity and cooperation with staff and community as we move forward on the exciting projects and challenges that face us.”

Information on Dr. McPhetridge’s potential appointment will be posted online late in the day on February 4, 2015, along with the agenda for the February 10 meeting. That meeting begins at 6:30 pm and will be held at City Hall.
