Beginning Ukulele Classes to start 1/30/2017 at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts

Did you get a new ukulele for your holiday present and now you wish you knew how to play it? You can get started to make this New Year's resolution come true and learn to play the ukulele right away! This 6 session series starts Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts located at 1601 Paru Street, Alameda. Classes are held from 6:30-7:45pm and the class series costs $125 for members and $135 for non-members. This small class for adults is designed for Total Beginners although some music experience is a plus. We will start with tuning and holding the instrument but will very soon get everyone started with making their first "one finger" chords and making music! Classes will be held Monday evenings: 1/30, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, 3/13 and 3/20/2017. You can sign up and pay online at the www.frankbettecenter.org website. The instructor, Janet Lenore, has taught ukulele and guitar on Alameda island for the past six years but she started playing the guitar back when she was 12 years old. Janet has taught classes and workshops at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop in Washington state as well as the Napa Wine Country Ukulele Festival, Healdsburg's "Ukes on The Loose," and the San Francisco Free Folk Festival. Janet leads a monthly acoustic jam at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. The next Jam will be 2/15/2017 at 7pm. Besides ukulele and voice, guitar, other acoustic instruments are welcomed. You will be asked to make a small donation to the Frank Bette Center for the Arts for the room use.
