British Airways To Offer New Service From Oakland To London

Oakland now offers more direct flights than at any time in its 90-year history.

OAKLAND, CA — British Airways later this month will begin offering a new service to London from Oakland International Airport, airport officials announced today.

The new service starting March 28 will be one of the 62 direct flights available at the airport, the most in its 90-year history.

The airport, which serves 12 million travelers annually, is the fourth-busiest airport in California and the second-busiest in the Bay Area.

"Oakland International is the Bay Area airport closest to the majority of the region's residents and businesses," Port of Oakland director of aviation Bryant Francis said in a statement.

The new service "reflects the increasing opportunities and convenience now available for travelers to and from the entire Bay Area region," Francis said.
