PiYo is a low-impact class that blends the sculpting power of Pilates, the flexibility of yoga, and mid to high-intensity cardio, using dynamic bodyweight movements.
It features yoga poses, Pilates-inspired core work, and cardio bursts like lunges and squats, all moving to music for an at-times intense yet flexible session suitable for all levels, with variations for beginners and specific body parts.
Props such as loop bands, weights, Pilates balls and massage balls are used.
Come to sweat and relax deeply at the end.
Note: Just come by with no hassle having to carry anything! We provide everything at no additional cost to you.

Return to yesteryear at the handsomely furnished Meyers House, Alameda’s only historic home open for tours. Your $5.00 admission includes a tour of the house, an architectural exhibit, a look at the studio where architects Henry Meyers and his daughter, Mildred, worked, and a carriage house gallery dedicated to the works of early Alameda artist Edwin Siegfried, (1889-1955) noted for his paintings of the salt marshes that once lined Alameda. Docents are on hand to point out items of particular interest and answer questions. We open at 1:00 pm. Last admission to begin touring is 3:00 pm. We are open Saturday, July 25th and located at 2021 Alameda Avenue.

Welcome!
Pratyahara is the conscious withdrawal of energy from the senses. This practice invites us to turn inward and reconnect with our inner awareness. In this unique workshop, we will explore this practice through blindfolded yoga. By gently removing the sense of sight, using an eye mask, blindfold, or softened gaze, we create space for the other senses to awaken and deepen our connection to the body and breath.
Without visual cues, movement becomes more intuitive, grounded, and mindful. We will explore the meaning of Pratyahara and its place within the Eight Limbs of Yoga, followed by a gentle, guided asana practice designed to heighten awareness of sensation, sound, and breath.
There will be gentle hands-on adjustments throughout the practice. The experience will close with a sound bath, allowing the nervous system to fully relax.
About Cristin:
 Cristin's yoga journey began in the early 90s, leading to her foundational Ashtanga training under Larry Schultz and It's Yoga in 2005. Her teaching style is dynamic, intuitive, and spiritual, seamlessly intertwining breath work with sequences for a holistic experience.
Drawing on her background in dance, she offers modifications for all levels to ensure inclusivity and guides students to explore their physical and spiritual strengths with grace. Ultimately, Cristin inspires students to pursue self-discovery and growth both on and off the mat.

This supportive environment creates space for the nervous system to relax and for the breath to deepen, encouraging a state of calm and mindfulness. The slow pace and passive approach help to cultivate awareness of the present moment, making it a grounding and introspective experience.
Expect a sequence of soothing poses, including hip openers, gentle twists, and other restorative postures designed to release tension and enhance mobility. These poses are not meant to stretch the body to its limits but rather to open it up gradually, both physically and mentally. As the body relaxes and opens, so too does the mind, creating a sense of spaciousness and ease.

Soma is a Greek word that means "living body in its wholeness." Somatic Yoga is a movement practice that focuses on feeling our living body from the inside. We do this by bringing our awareness to our breath and sensations as we move slowly through different poses, notice our shifting of weight, and bring our curiosity to the shapes we embody. Class will begin with breath awareness and slow, fluid movements to bring us into deeper contact with our sense of Self.&nbsp;
 The exercises will be intrinsically strengthening, like how a baby develops muscular tone gently over time. The class will include seated poses and a standing asana slow-flow practice in which we will bring our inner awareness and breath to each pose and transition.
 Class will end with a return to the floor, noticing the changes in how we are making contact with ourselves and our environment. Somatic Yoga will be a movement journey that guides you to experience the Fullness of You.

Your donation helps us keep circus training accessible while honoring the creativity and leadership of underrepresented artists. This evening is offered as a sliding scale event so that finances are not a barrier to entry. Typically we charge $5 for entry and $10 for each trapeze swing.
