ALAMEDA, CA — Tamales are a delicious Christmas tradition for many Alameda residents, but if you're not ready to tackle corn husks, masa, and the filling and wrapping — the next best option is finding a great local source for homemade tamales.

EaterSF came up with a list of the 10 best places to buy tamales in the East Bay.

Sadly, none are in Alameda, but you don't have to drive far. The restaurants are scattered from Richmond down to San Leandro and east to Hayward.

Oakland scored three restaurants and a specialty store — Tamaleria Azteca, La Guerrera’s Kitchen, Tamales Mi Lupita and Supermercado Mi Tierra, #2.

Hayward also had three restaurants on the list — Alicia's Tamales Los Mayas, Mis Tamales, and Taqueria Senaida's.
