Steven Sondheim and Charles Lapine’s imaginative and lyrically rich retelling of the Grimm classics premiered in San Diego in 1986. Into the Woods opened on Broadway in 1987, and ran for 765 performances. This Tony award-winning musical has since been produced all over the world, and also boasts a film adaptation released in 2014 with a star-studded cast including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and Emily Blunt. The film grossed over $212 million worldwide and received three Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.
Into the Woods Jr. intertwines the plots of several traditional fairy tales, with the main characters lifted from Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. When a Baker and his Wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, they embark on a quest to begin a family, encountering a parade of familiar storybook characters along the way. As the plot twists and turns, the characters go into the woods, determined to obtain the things they are wishing for, and end up changed forever.

About Tomorrow Youth Repertory
Tomorrow Youth Repertory was started in the summer of 2011 when Jordan Best, Amy Marie Haven, and Tyler Null met to discuss joining forces to offer weekly youth theater classes and productions. Operating for the first year as a sub-program of Alameda Children’s Musical Theater, and then becoming an independent non-profit in 2012, Tomorrow Youth Rep has been tireless in its pursuit of youth theater opportunities, offering multiple classes and camps to serve all experience levels, and serving hundreds of students. Tomorrow Youth Repertory prides itself on its ability to offer a full theater experience for young actors, and for providing individual attention for every student — whether they have been acting and singing for ten years, or have never been on stage.
