Doolittle Walk - Follow the path of the Raiders

Alameda Naval Air Museum historical walking tour, Sunday March 29th, 11:00 am Tickets $20 includes visits to our museum and the USS Hornet

Did you know that the former Naval Air Station at Alameda played a key role in the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, April 18th? The modified B-25 bombers flew in at the end of March with specially trained pilots. Retrace their steps as they prepared to load the planes aboard the original USS Hornet CV-8, then head out to sea.

Historian Dr. Marshall Davis will lead the group to the runways, to Pier 2 and finally to Pier 3 where you will envision the aircraft and pace off the 400 feet of runway on the USS Hornet CV-12. Learn about the Alameda Naval Air Station of 1942. Bring cameras and comfortable walking shoes. Biking and carpooling encouraged.

DIRECTIONS: Alameda Naval Air Museum is located on the former base, at 2151 Ferry Pt. Road, Building #77. Best access is the former gate on Appezzato Parkway (Atlantic Ave.), follow the road around the jet circle until you reach the seawall, then turn right at Ferry Point Road for 50 yards.
