Alameda Restaurant Gets Shout-Out For Dungeness Crab

The foodie website SF Eater selected 4 East Bay spots, as well as restaurants from Fort Bragg to Half Moon Bay, as places to eat local crab.

ALAMEDA, CA — It's Dungeness crab season in the Bay Area and chefs are whipping up their best recipes featuring the crustaceans pulled from the Pacific Ocean off California.

SF Eater has selected 28 restaurants that it considers top notch at preparing Dungeness including four in the East Bay — two in Oakland, one in Albany, and Hang Ten Boiler here in Alameda.

SF Eater gave enthusiastic praise, "For an Asian-Cajun-style crab boil, it’s hard to beat this popular Alameda spot, where the crab — along with the crawfish, shrimp, sausages, and whatever else you want them to put in the bag — comes drenched in the shop’s extra-buttery, well-spiced sauce. Make sure to ask them to include the head, which comes topped with a mound of rice to soak up all the umami-laden crab fat."
