Both Alameda and Contra Costa counties reported new deaths on Friday.

BAY AREA — The latest developments around the region related to the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, as of Friday afternoon include:

Two farms will begin providing produce at a reasonable rate to the Alameda County Community Food Bank, allowing it to provide much-needed fresh fruit and vegetables to a growing number of residents in need of assistance,county officials said.

Starting Monday, all passengers must wear a covering that covers their nose and mouth while riding on Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority buses and trains, the transit authority announced Thursday.

The city of Salinas announced Thursday the launch of a small business assistance hotline to assist in the handling of financial impacts and other changes brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Alameda County: 1,636 cases, 62 deaths (1,603 cases, 60 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Contra Costa County: 907 cases, 28 deaths (891 cases, 27 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Marin County: 237 cases, 13 deaths (235 cases, 13 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Monterey County: 213 cases, 5 deaths (206 cases, 5 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Napa County: 68 cases, 2 deaths (67 cases, 2 deaths on Wednesday)
  • San Francisco County: 1,523 cases, 28 deaths (1,499 cases, 25 deaths on Wednesday)
  • San Mateo County: 1,197 cases, 51 deaths (1,177 cases, 48 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Santa Clara County: 2,179 cases, 113 deaths (2,134 cases, 111 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Santa Cruz County: 132 cases, 2 deaths (131 cases, 2 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Solano County: 263 cases, 5 deaths (254 cases, 5 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Sonoma County: 244 cases, 2 deaths (232 cases, 2 deaths on Wednesday)
  • Statewide: 50,442 cases, 2,073 deaths (48,917 cases, 1,982 deaths on Wednesday)
