Emergency Equipment Installer

(up to $26.00 - $31.00/hour, DOE)

The Alameda County General Services Agency is seeking a temporary Emergency Equipment Installer in the Motor Vehicles department to install fixed and mobile radio transmission and receiving equipment and associated emergency equipment.

Duties

· Install mobile radios, license plate readers, laptop docking stations, broadband mobile devices, video, siren controllers and other related emergency communications, transmission and receiving equipment in vehicles for County departments, cities and special districts contracting for this service.

· Install control heads, speakers, sirens, microphones, switches, antennas and light bars in above-named equipment by cutting and drilling holes and bolting equipment in place.

· Use equipment such as multimeters, foot-operated squaring shears, manual folding box brake, manual turret punch, drill press, MIG welder, grinder and acetylene torch; fabricate brackets, covers, and containers to fit various vehicles.

· Remove receivers, transmitters, and related equipment from old or damaged vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in automotive electrical or mechanical work, or in cable or alarm installation work.

Or

Some acceptable combination of education and appropriate experience.

Valid California Driver’s License.
