His appearance is being sponsored by the Alameda Public Affairs Forum. He will be speaking on his newly published book,  "Embracing Israel/Palestine: A Strategy To Heal and Transform the Middle East".

Said an Alameda Public Affairs Forum representative on the group's website, "Rabbi Lerner is one of the most challenging thinkers of our time. In his just published new book, "Embracing Israel / Palestine: A Strategy to Heal and Transform the Middle East," he addresses the roots of the most dangerous situation confronting the world today: the threat of a war against Iran by Israel and the United States, and proposes a strategy to reconcile Israelis and Palestinians as an essential first step toward transforming the Middle East. The "Arab Spring" has opened the door to peace. The green movement in Iran has shown an alternative to the reactionary, aggressive regime is possible. But peace between Israelis and Palestinians is also necessary and possible if a new policy of support for the democratic rights of the Palestinians is adopted by the United States and embraced by both Israelis and Palestinians."

Copies of Rabbi Lerner's book will be on sale at the event by  . and Rabbi Lerner will autograph them.
