We want to see more students and parents riding their bikes to school! We know bikes need maintenance and that’s why we’ve invited the Bikemobile to provide Free Tune Ups for all parents, students and teachers! If your bike or your child’s bike is making one of those mystery sounds or is collecting dust because it has a flat tire, bring your bike to school on Saturday, March 10 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - just in time for the Golden Sneaker Contest! The Bikemobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out parts like chains, seats and tires. The only thing it can’t do is replace missing wheels or gears. While the mechanics work on your bike, they’ll explain how it works and how to keep it running. In addition to getting a tune up, your child can add some style to their ride by adding colored tape to the frame at the decoration station. The Bikemobile is offered through the Alameda County Transportation Commission, in partnership with Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools and is funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Climate Initiatives program.
