Alameda LWV Candidate Forum October 4 - Alameda City Council Candidates

The League of Women Voters of Alameda (LWVA) will present four candidate and issue forums covering citywide political candidates and state and local ballot measures leading up to the November 6 General Election.

All four events are from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on Thursdays in the Mastick Senior Center Social Hall at 1155 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda.

The first forum (7:00 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, October 4) features the seven remaining candidates for two open seats on the Alameda City Council: Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Jeff Cambra, Stewart G. Chen, Tony Daysog, Gerard Valbuena Dumuk, Jane Sullwold, and Joana Darc Weber.

There will be three Candidate Forums in all (October 4, 18, and 25) and one “Pros and Cons” presentation (October 11) on state and local ballot measures. all of them taking place 7:00 – 8:30 pm on Thursdays at the Mastick Senior Center.

All of these forums are free and open to the public. The Mastick Senior Center is an accessible, ADA-compliant facility. Parking is available: the parking lot entrance is on Santa Clara Avenue between Bay Street and St. Charles Street.

Every candidate in the above four races has been invited to participate.

At each candidate forum, candidates will respond to questions posed by members of the audience and by the LWVA. At the October 11 forum, League members who are informed on the state and local ballot measures will present nonpartisan, impartial "Pros and Cons” on each measure and answer audience questions.

The LWVA intends to videotape all four forums and make the videos available for later viewing on the League’s web site.

Local election and voting information is available from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters. The last day to register to vote prior to the November 6 General Election—or to re-register if you have moved—is Monday, October 22.
