Climate Change Talk, Part II: The Art of Making a Difference

This is the second in the series of talks Climate Change - What Is It and What Can We, As Faith Based Communities, Do About It in Alameda?

The talks with be given by CASA members Sri Subramaniam and Joyce Mercado. 

In the first talk on March 27th Sri focused on the science of Climate Change with emphasis on the impacts being seen around the world, and the imperative to change how we produce and use energy.

In the second talk on April 10th Joyce Mercado will provide practical tips for incorporating green changes into your life style using her Alameda Global Warming Checklist and Resource List. Many of these green changes help the family budget in addition to helping the planet.  Joyce will also offer easy and effective options for individuals to go beyond reducing their own greenhouse gas emissions to influence others in Alameda to reduce their carbon footprints as well.

Sri Subramaniam – Sri is one of a select group of 1,000 Americans personally trained by Nobel Laureate Al Gore to spread the message about the challenges of and solutions to the climate crisis.  Sri spent the last 3 years volunteering in his spare time with Gore’s Climate Project (www.theclimateproject.org) making presentations to diverse audiences discussing how individuals, businesses, and communities can reduce their environmental impact.

Joyce Mercado – Joyce is a member of CASA’s Steering Committee and sits on the Board of Directors of BikeAlameda.  In addition Joyce has developed the Global Warming Checklist and Resource List and she has given presentations throughout Alameda offering residents practical tips on changing habits to live a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
