Fiscal and Monetary Policies...Why the Controversy?Fiscal and monetary policies have prompted considerable publilcdiscussion and debate in connection with the Great Recession and weak recovery.  This course will attempt to address the following questions: What is the economic rationale for fiscal/monetary policies?  What are the tools of fiscal/monetary policies and how are they implemented?  How do these policies affect the economy and why are they controversial?  What is meant by "automatic stabilizers" and how do they work?  Under what circumstances are these policies most/least effective?  What have recent and historical experiences taught us about these policies?  What are the economic and social costs of inaction?  Sign up in the Mastick Office or call 747-7506.
