Newborn Basics
The transition to parenthood is an amazing journey. It also can be an exhausting one! Get a head start by learning the basics. This class will cover feeding, diapering, bathing, cord care, nail care, swaddling, comforting and calming, how to choose a pediatrician, taking a temperature, recognizing illness and when to call the pediatrician, immunizations, car seat safety and postpartum care for the new mom. Brea...stfeeding Basics is offered immediately following this class and is strongly recommended as a supplement to this class. A 20% discount is issued if both classes are taken.
Breastfeeding Basics
Breastfeeding isn't always as easy as it looks. A solid foundation can help you get off to a good start. This class will cover the health benefits of breastfeeding, basic anatomy and physiology, supply and demand, care of the nursing mother, newborn cues, positioning and establishing a good latch, preventing common problems, pumping and storing breast milk, breastfeeding gear, breast pumps and community resources.
