The community is invited to come discuss the future of the Occupy Alameda Movement on February 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the in Alameda.
"Think Globally, Act Locally - Putting Our Heads, Hearts and Hands Together in Alameda" is the theme of the evening's discussion.
People who would like to contribute their support, ideas and efforts are invited to attend.

There will be no childcare at this event. Organizers say they will try to arrange childcare at events in the future.
According to the Occupy Alameda Facebook page, on February 8 a small group of community members and organizers met in a focus group to discuss the future of Occupy Alameda. In attendance were representatives from various groups in the community including the Alameda Multicultural Center, Alameda Citizen Task Force, FCCA, and Occupy Alameda. Those attending decided that they would select some local issues to focus upon such as class disparity on the island (specifically at Alameda Point) and other areas of "hidden" poverty in Alameda.

The group agreed it would begin with educating its members about the history of Alameda Point as well as the current situation there and would research other areas of economic disparity in Alameda by reviewing census reports.
It was acknowledged by the group that much needs to be achieved globally, systemically and institutionally. In an effort to be effective, however, the group decided it should attempt to articulate a local need on which it can make an actual impact.
Group organizers say they are also considering holding an event with the Alameda Credit Union at the Alameda Free Library to discuss local Move Your Money actions.
