Pancake Breakfast Farewell to Washington Elementary

As a farewell to the Alameda community, Washington Elementary School will be holding a Pancake Breakfast Fund-raiser Saturday, June 2 from 8:30 to 11:30 am to celebrate and honor Washington Elementary School's community, past and present, as it closes this chapter in its 103-year history. The site at Eighth and Taylor has been home to Washington School since 1909 and the current structure was built in 1957.

 Tickets to the event are $5 each and will get you an all-you-can eat stack 'o cakes, two strips of bacon and coffee or milk. Also, a $1-raffle will run during the breakfast with great prizes for children, including gift cards to area stores such as Books, Inc. Toy Safari, and more. Buy as many raffle tickets as you like,

During the breakfast, community members may sponsor and decorate a ceramic tile for a commemorative mosaic art project, as a gesture to the opening this fall of a global arts magnet which will replace Washington Elementary and as a rembrance to the more than 100 years of Washington School. The proceeds will go to an art installation made of the tiles for the new, arts-integrated global magnet K-5 school, to be named the Maya Lin School.

Tickets may be purchased at the event or ahead of time at the school's main office.
