Sewing Recycled Sweaters

Learn to sew felted recycled sweaters to make an appliqued pillow cover or an appliqued scarf made from recycled sweater materials. When wool sweaters are washed with heavy agitation, the fibers mold to become "felted". This creates a unique and lovely textile that is easy to work with and does not fray. In this class, students learn basic stitching and cutting of materials, invisible zipper insertion or button hole envelope finish and applique techniques. Each student will come away with a unique, finished project that is both cozy and eye catching.
