"Fail on!" "TA-DA!"

The importance of Failure!

Failure-noun: lack of success; a falling short.” Definition by Meriam-Webster

Failure-noun: an opportunity to take imperfection action, learn and grow; an opportunity to fall, get up, dust yourself off, and try again.” Definition by AnneMary Schram

Failure can be liberating! When you give up having to do it “perfect”, you can just dive in and try. Failure can be fun. I experienced this recently when I tried paddle boarding the first time! Failure can teach you. When you try something and it doesn’t work out, you can learn and try it a different way next time. Failure can be freeing. When something doesn’t work out, you are free to try it another way. Failure can be so many things..and it doesn’t have to be “bad”. In fact failure can be a great thing!

If I hadn’t “failed” at my past relationships, I never would have met and married the man I had only dreamed of!

If I hadn’t “failed” at my last job, I never would have “gotten the boot” and discovered this new career that I am wildly passionate about! (I work with women who cannot quiet their critical inner voices that keep them frustrated, stuck, and confused what to do next. I help them gain clarity and become courageous, confident women who go for what they really want! I am a certified, co-active life coach and I LOVE it!)

If I hadn’t “failed” at loving myself, I never would have learned to break my co-dependent tendencies and learn the act of self care and self-love. EVERYONE benefits when we love and take care of ourselves! It is NOT a selfish act! (Sounds like a good topic for another post!).

If I hadn’t “failed” at paddle boarding. I never would have experienced the excitement and thrill of the ride!

My coach had a saying I love (the first time I heard it though, it scared the crap out of me!). “Fail on!” I love that he gave me permission to just try. I love that I give myself that same permission. It’s also a constant reminder of my theme of 2014 “Progress Not Perfection!”

Another coach recently told me “Take imperfection action!” As scary as that sometimes can be, I AM doing it and the results (inner and outer) are so rewarding! You never know what is possible if the fear of failure keeps you in your comfort zone.

Think of all the great inventions, cures, etc. that have come out of “failed” experiments. I love telling my clients to think of our “work” as experiments in a lab...the outcomes can be amazing!

I want to share a “new tool” I relearned recently at a coaching retreat ..

When you try something and “fail” INSTEAD of getting all freaked out, getting stuck, quitting, giving into the inner critic voices, etc...throw your arms up in the arm and say “TA-DA!!!”

I am hear to tell you, it takes ALL the “sting” out of the moment! I used it, I saw others use it AND then this weekend I saw a group of toddlers use it . They just would get back up, giggle and try again. I am SOLD on this “new tool”. It cuts the tension, anxiety, and stress immediately AND opens up space for you to learn for from the “failure“. Try it and let me know how it goes for you!!

TAAAAAAAAAAAAA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
