Follow the path of the Doolittle Raiders
$20 walking tour and visit to two museums - ANAM and USS Hornet on joint ticket

Sunday March 29th 11:00 am to approximately 2:00 pm historical walk that will celebrate the role Alameda Naval Air Station played in the Doolittle Raid in April 1942 during WW-2, 73 years ago. The secretive mission began 142 days after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor when Lt. Col. “Jimmy” Doolittle was selected to train a special team of pilots to take off in modified B-25 bombers on only 400 feet of runway, from a then undisclosed location - Alameda, California.
The story unfolds after registration with tour given by Dr. Marshall Davis of the History Connection and researcher for Alameda Naval Air Museum (ANAM). See the runways where 16 planes were later loaded aboard the USS Hornet CV-8 at Pier 2. Visit both ANAM and the USS Hornet Museum on the joint ticket. Hear stories, see images of these brave men of the Doolittle Raiders. Bring your questions, cameras, comfortable shoes, and sunscreen. Military or patriotic attire admired but not required. A few classic cars and military vehicles will be present.
· Pricing: Limited keepsake tickets for the Doolittle Walk are $20 per person for adults and children, available 3/29 in front of ANAM, 2151 Ferry Pt. Road, Alameda. Cash or checks payable to ANAM preferred. Need not be a member to attend.

· Directions: Best access is from the East Gate on Appezatto Way. Follow signs to end, turning right to ANAM (left is to USS Hornet). ANAM is near the lagoon, just past Artemis Racing structure, in Building 77. Registration begins when museum opens at 10:00 am to allow guests to view exhibits prior to the walk. Departure planned for 11:15 pm., with transportation required to runways & return.
· Transportation: Carpooling and biking are encouraged to get from ANAM to Runways, to Pier 2, to USS Hornet at Pier 3, and return to ANAM. Parking is free.

· Admissions: One entrance to each museum is included with the ticket. Visit to USS Hornet on 3/29 only but a later visit to ANAM is permissible.
