Free Helpline In Alameda County For Stressed Parents

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Parents are under tremendous stress as they worry about the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, and schools and other public places are closed. Here's a resource in Alameda County: the Parenting Stress Helpline.

The nonprofit Family Paths has offered live phone support for parents for more than 47 years, but on Monday announced the new name "as stress levels go up over health and well-being due to COVID-19."

The 24-hour helpline will connect you with resources, provide voice-to-voice support, and will give free confidential counseling to Alameda County families. Those answering the phone have access to a database of more than 900 resources that is regularly maintained.

The helpline offers additional support through regular callbacks or one-time anonymous calls.

A professional language line can be accessed for in-the-moment translation services to over 400 languages, so calls in all languages are encouraged.
