Generous Support of Twin Towers Methodist Church to over 1,000 California Virtual Academy Students

Twin Towers Methodist Church provides a tremendous service to independent study students of the California Virtual Academy

The community at Twin Towers United Methodist Church has provided a tremendous service to the independent study students of the California Virtual Academies (http://cava.k12.com/).

The 3rd – 8th, 10th & 11th grade students of the public charter school, although participating in an independent study program, are still required to take part in state testing. Since students complete their curriculum at home and online, each year the school needs “brick and mortar” places for their students to assemble for their required state testing.

Connie Wissner, CAVA Regional Lead and Local Testing Coordinator says, “We are so thankful to Richard Wolf and the staff at Twin Towers for their continued support of our students. Without partners like these, our virtual school would have a difficult time accommodating our students for State Testing.”

For the last six years, the community at Twin Towers United Methodist Church has opened their doors to the CAVA students and teachers and allowed them to use their gym & classrooms free of charge. This year around 100 students participated in state testing at the site and nearly 1,000 students have tested there over the last 6 years.

“Due to the generosity of the Twin Towers Methodist Church we were able to complete our State Testing for local students in a safe and beautiful location,” says Ali Sampson, CAVA teacher and test site coordinator. “We essentially moved into their gym for a week with all our students and supplies and they were so accommodating and kind. Due to the nature of our school, we really could not complete our testing without the generosity of local sites like Twin Towers; we are so appreciative!”
