The Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is a supportive housing community of approximately 500 formerly homeless people at Alameda Point. The Growing Youth Project is an APC program that, since its beginnings in a youth-led food assessment in 2005, has been headed by Kate Casale, who holds a master's degree from UC Davis in agricultural development and has a passion for youth development, urban agriculture and food justice.

Today at APC, Growing Youth has grown to include an urban farm, a garden, a farm stand, a food delivery service for APC residents and a community kitchen.  Through Growing Youth, young adults are employed tending, producing and preparing healthful foods as they engage in dialogue about issues regarding food, health and nutrition.

This month's slide show was prepared by Growing Youth staff members Cassie Linzie and Camri Manney.
