Lawn to Garden Party - learn how to convert your lawn without ripping it out!

Not like any other lawn party –this party gives you a chance to help convert a lawn into a garden using sheet mulch, all in one day! Sheet mulching your lawn into a garden with cardboard, compost and mulch will help your soil withstand the drought AND El Nino.

We’ll be supporting a San Lorenzo homeowner as they transform their front yard. StopWaste educators will be on hand, along with nursery staff and Bay-Friendly Qualified Designer Ann Morrison of Chrysalis Gardens to guide us as we sheet mulch and plant the new garden. This is a great opportunity to see the whole process, from curb cutting, prep, actual sheet mulching and planting. Participants will learn about lawn conversion rebates as well as drought tolerant plant choices and receive a 40% discount coupon to use on sheet mulch materials for their own lawn conversion.

After participating in one of these lawn parties, Alameda County attendees will be eligible to receive a FREE one-hour of design assistance from a Bay-Friendly Qualified Designer if they host their own sheet mulch party. At the end of the event, there will be a drawing for other garden gifts and plants.
