Lincoln Middle School Band Delights the Crowds
LMS music students put on amazing concert: "Magic, Movies and Music Oh My!"

Last Wednesday night, the Lincoln Middle School Music Department delighted a packed house as they hosted the sixth edition of their Fall dinner and concert, “Magic, Movies and Music Oh My!” Parents, students, and guests feasted on a delicious pre-concert dinner provided by the High Street Station Cafe, and were later entertained by a fabulous musical performance and magic act. The musical feast, which featured the String Orchestra and all three levels of the marching band, was an AMAZING celebration of Americana at the movies.
Guests delighted in the two hour concert, which transfixed and enchanted young and old. Opening with the sweet sounds of the String Orchestra and their performance of a selection of movie themes, including: “Edelweiss” from the Sound of Music and the “Main Theme” from Pirates of the Caribbean, the evening continued with the Beginning Band students, who were able to captivate the crowd, even after only 4 weeks of instruction. The musical extravaganza continued with the Intermediate Band students and their enticing offerings of famous movie themes, which got the crowds moving and included: “The Entertainer,” “The Hanging Tree,” “A Very Respectable Hobbit,” and a medley of beloved songs from “The Wizard of Oz.”
When the Advanced Band students at last took the stage, they presented a magnificent tribute to the themes of Steven Spielberg, Walt Disney, and the producers of “Harry Potter” movies. The crowd was enchanted as they heard favorites from Spielberg’s movies, including “Raiders March,” “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park,” and “E.T.” To highlight the season, they also played Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and other spooky tunes that earned them well-deserved applauses. And, in the true LMS tradition of excellence (rolling of drums and fanfare), the Advanced Band students took the audience to new heights as they combined music with technology!!! The audience was mesmerized when they played a medley of 12 Disney movies and another medley from the eight “Harry Potter” films soundtracks while the movie clips were featured on screen. The fit of synchronization was O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G! The music was so “in tune” with the movements of the animation on screen that when it ended, there was a mighty cheer from the audience. And to top off the evening, magician, Dan Chan and his son transfixed the audience with a short magic show that was accompanied by the band
