Local Earhart Team Earns Spot at Destination Imagination Global Finals! They need your support!

5 Earhart Students earn chance to go to Knoxville, Tennessee to compete in the Destination Imagination Global Finals! They need your help!

Five Amelia Earhart Elementary students, known as DI to the 5th Power, have advanced to the 2016 Destination Imagination (DI) Global Finals competition in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 25-28. They are thrilled for this opportunity and are ready to demonstrate their talents while representing Alameda, CA, at this international competition. (DI to the 5th Power (as seen in the first picture): Corinna Chin, Kaela Wong, Kailani Tyler, Hana Chan and Lily Deleon
Team manager: Claudette Carrillo-Tyler.)

DI is a creative problem solving competition in which student teams create a solution to an improvisational, technical, scientific, service learning, or artistic/fine arts challenge. DI to the 5th Power will present their team solution in a 4 minute improvisational skit that they will prepare only minutes before presenting. The competition is fierce, but this Earhart DI team has been preparing since October, meeting after school and on the weekends, and they are ready to showcase their work.

The students must raise funds to pay for their registration fees, airfare and ground transportation, and food and accommodations in Tennessee. With only a few weeks to go until Globals, the pressure is on. We're planning several community fundraisers to cover the trip costs. We've set our GoFundMe page goal at $10,000 -- this amount and the fundraising targets for the other events will get us closer to our total goal.

Thank you for supporting these young, creative minds--the next generation of innovators and leaders!
