Process Begins to Move Alameda Power Lines Underground
Alameda Municipal Power plans to move power lines underground. The process to decide which neighborhoods will go first is underway.

Alameda, Ca - The city of Alameda’s “undergrounding” program, in which overhead power lines and equipment are moved underground, is the focus of a new District Nomination Board.
Composed of four members of the public and one member from the Public Works Department, the Board held its kick-off meeting on June 30.
In the coming months, the board will recommend districts in the city for undergrounding power lines and equipment. The board’s recommendation will go to a Technical Advisory Committee for evaluation. The committee will then make recommendations on districts to the City Council, for its determination.
